Male DJ: MDJ
Female DJ : FDJ
Fung: FUNG
MDJ : First of all, we have to make this clear that this program that you’re listening to is not a live program, it’s a pre-recorded program. Lam Fung’s fans will surely know his schedule very well but there are some who likes Lam Fung but never really follow what he’s up to, so, to make it clear, please don’t come up here thinking that you will see Lam Fung, you won’t see Lam Fung here…Once again, this is not a live program.
You see, this is an opportunity that fans have been waiting for. For me, it’s okay…I am always surrounded by good looking man…Sa-che (telling the FD), I guess you’d be the happiest person now that you have a good looking man right in front of you.
FDJ: Yes, that is right, we have a good looking man here sharing with us about food. What a bliss. Anyway, Lam Fung, thank you for being here as we celebrate this jubilee year of Commercial Radio Hong Kong (CRHK 50th Anniversary). Today, Lam Fung has brought us hamburger and a bottle of Chinese wine. Fung, tell us how you came aross this hamburger shop?
FUNG: There was once a staff from the recording company told me that there’s one hamburger shop that I need to try it out, he knows that I love to eat and he also knows that I love hunting down food. He was describing it and it sounds very delicious. So, I told myself that I will have to check it out. When I went, to my surprise, it was a small shop, small cafe…it’s located along Wong Po street, diagonally opposite the HK Coliseum…
FDJ: Oh..so it’s very convenient for those who are running shows there…
FUNG: Yea, so the during concert rehearsal, i bought 50 burgers for everyone to taste it…and if you were there in the hall, you could smell the onions spreading its pungent aroma across the hall. What’s so special about this burger? The beef burger in particular uses very tender beef meet and cheese, the texture fits the local taste pretty well.
FDJ: Yea, when we eat it, we can feel that we are eating the original Taste of Hong Kong.
FUNG: This shop has 40 over years of history. The packaging is still very traditional and very classic.
MDJ: Actually, the burgers are now cold due to the travelling distance when Fung brought it, otherwise, I’m sure the burgers will taste even better. But anyway, the thickness of the beef meat simply amazes me….
FUNG: Yea….and the burger is made in such a way that you do not have be afraid of not being able to have your mouth wide open to eat it (Fung so cute here )
FDJ: Yea, it should easily be 3inches thick.
MDJ: Have you brought your overseas friends to this burger shop?
FUNG: Oh…haven’t..
MDJ: If you have a chance, you should bring them there..let them know that there we too have our own homegrown burgers I can see that you eat almost everything. What else do you like?
FUNG: Actually food is very important to us, especially people in our line of work. Eating is a way of releasing stress.

RAYMOND Lam Fung is one guy who makes heads turn when he enters a room. The phrase “tall, dark and handsome” was indeed coined with men like him in mind.
Recently, however, members of the media were staring at him for another reason.
The Hong Kong artiste showed his quirky side as he matched a fitted black jacket and pristine white shirt with tapered pants, which revealed that he was not wearing socks. That image alone got all the photographers happily snapping away.
What was the reason for this particular getup?
“This outfit is actually styled according to the occasion. The suit jacket is befitting the event, but since Malaysia is quite hot, I’m wearing ‘short’ pants instead,” quipped Lam, setting a light-hearted mood for the afternoon.
Arguably Hong Kong Television Broadcast’s (TVB) hottest male lead in recent years, Lam was speaking at a media conference introducing him as the brand ambassador for local beverage Power Root Alicafe Premium Gold.
This makes him the first Chinese and international star to be appointed as a spokesperson for the home-grown brand, which is available in 16 countries.
Targetted at the Chinese market, the Premium Gold series is a new blend of coffee with ginseng extract (Alicafe) and marine collagen (Per’l Cafe).
The 29-year-old actor-singer was very happy that the collaboration brought him to one of his favourite countries – Malaysia – to promote his favourite drink – coffee.
The coffee lover shared how he came to love coffee and how he would enjoy a cuppa on a daily basis.
“My love for coffee probably stemmed from the time I was studying in high school and had a singing teacher who loved drinking coffee.
“For me, nothing can substitute coffee. Personally, I like to make my own brew using ground coffee beans and enjoy my cuppa while listening to music. But, my working schedule does not permit such luxuries that often.”
The Xiamen-born Lam is celebrating his 10th year in showbiz with his first concert. The two-day gig will be held in Hong Kong Coliseum on June 17 and 18.
Gearing up for his concert, Lam has all his own songs on repeat in his CD player.
“I’ve been listening to my songs only as I need to memorise all the lyrics. There are so many things to prepare for the concert,” said Lam.
Having released Cantopop albums Finding Love in Memories (2007) and Your Love (2008), Lam is already working on his third Cantonese album.
“The new album is quite amusing as I’m trying to preserve my own style while exploring fresh musical direction. There will be a couple of R&B numbers, which is very unusual for Cantonese music.”
His debut album won him a string of accolades, including the coveted gold award for the most popular male newcomer at Hong Kong’s 2007 Jade Solid Gold, the best newcomer award at 2007 Metro Hits Awards and the IFPI highest album sales among newcomers.
Love with No Regrets, the title song from his second album and also the theme song of popular TVB series Moonlight Resonance, also bagged him another armful of trophies, including most searched at 2008 Yahoo! Buzz Awards and most outstanding newcomer (Hong Kong) at China’s 2008 Sprite Music Awards.
Encouraged by the slew of awards, Lam is looking forward to taking on the mainland China market.
“I hope my next album will be in Mandarin. I do wish to have a Mandarin album very soon. I hope to venture into the China market, which is much bigger,” said Lam.
Prodded further, Lam disclosed that he had also been busy filming a TV series in Shenzhen, China, for the past two months. The 30-episode serial is a collaboration between TVB and a mainland Chinese station.
He could not reveal much about the production except to add that “luckily it is a modern-day series” as even the title of the show has not been fixed yet.
The Drive of Life, which was a hit in Hong Kong, made him Favourite Actor (in mainland China) at TVB’s 40th Anniversary Awards in 2007 and snagged him multiple awards at the 2009 Astro Wah Lai Toi Awards – favourite character for his role as Wah Chun Bong and favourite On-Screen Kiss with Charmaine Sheh while another hot favourite Heart of Greed won him the favourite couple award with Linda Chung.
More recently, Lam was named best actor in a drama series for his role as Tuen Hiu Sing in The Master of Taichi at the 2009 Asian Television Awards.
With such a packed schedule, what does he like to do to relax during his free time? “I like to go jogging but then I’ll still be practising my songs. I watch movies during flights.
“Every minute and every second of my time, even when I’m resting, I’m actually working. I need to be at my best to take on upcoming challenges I’ve got for the next half of the year,” he groused cheekily.
Looking somewhat pensive, he mused hesitantly, “There are so many things I wish to learn, absorb and digest.
“But, that would just gradually add more to all those things I have in hand. Yet, that’s a good thing and I do enjoy the process of my work.”
